Coronavirus Protocol

  1. Attendance – Members will not attend the club if they have any coronavirus symptoms, if they are subject to a test and trace restriction, or come from a household that is isolating because somebody else in the household has symptoms. Players must wash or sanitise their hands in the clubhouse on arrival and at the end of play.
  2. Lawns – Will be set with 2 full size courts (which are 800m2 in size) which can accommodate 2-8 players at any one time (ie ranging from 1 game of singles up to 2 games of doubles). The double banking games will be permitted, providing the two games follow the usual croquet etiquette of playing the same route around the hoops and maintaining 2 hoops apart.
  3. Etiquette - Players will observe usual protocol and keep at least 2 metres between them during their play. Scoring clips will not be provided. Players will not shake hands after each game, but will instead convey their appreciation through other means (such as prayer hands, bow/curtsey, a loud thank you, etc…).
  4. Clubhouse – Will be open with both toilets operational, 2m social distancing, compulsory mask wearing and enhanced cleaning in place. There will be sufficient means for the washing of hands and the wiping of equipment, seating, the toilet area and other contact points, and a bin for safe disposal.
  5. Capacity – The capacity of the club will be increased as the national easing stages of lockdown are actioned.

  7. Club Tournaments – Will go ahead as usual subject to the rules above.
  8. Social Events – Will be suspended until Stage Four is actioned
  9. East Midlands League – Home matches and ground-swap away matches will be accommodated, to be played on 2 courts and over 5 rounds as usual.
  10. Equipment – All equipment will be packed away, except for equipment trolleys which will be left out in the clubhouse when not in use, facing the windows to maximise exposure to ultraviolet light. Bleach spray is not to be used on the croquet balls or mallet heads, which can be cleaned with warm soapy water instead.
  11. Maintenance - The lawns will be maintained twice each week and Matt will try to do this in the mornings. Play is not permitted during maintenance.
